This song was inspired by a whole mess of women-who-rock biographies that I read last year, but mainly Pat Benatar, Grace Slick, and Chrissie Hynde. These badass women and more were knocked down, tossed about, went to hell and back, and persevered through whatever the music industry threw at them.

My first venture out of the classic swing/blues sphere, the driving funk rhythm of the song was inspired by many Etta James songs, and for me it just feels right for the mood and power of the don't-fuck-with-me attitude that I wanted to express.
