This song was inspired by a quote from a lovely book of short stories called "Touched by the Blues", lovingly collected and edited by Eli M. Marcus.

In this story, an aspiring bluesman meets his hero, Mr. B.B. King, and Mr. King looks him dead in the eye and tells him to "stay with it" (as in, keep on playing the blues).

This book came into my life right at the point where I needed this motivational kick to keep developing my songwriting, and I decided to play *against* the lyrics by *not* using a standard 12-bar blues.

As I dug through some classic jazz and gospel, I remembered that I really love the song "Yes Indeed" (Tommy Dorsey), but I didn't want to to listen to it while I was composing, so I actually remembered some chords "wrong".

A blessed mistake, it seems :)
